What discretion means in practice

• We never confirm or deny anyone's membership, application, or attendance, to anybody, regardless of who is asking or why.
• Our public website uses no third-party trackers and stores no visitor identifier at all. Page counts are counted; people are not.
• Member photos and albums are private by default, gated by the visibility their owner chose, and never sit on publicly guessable addresses.
• Your email is used for the messages the organization owes you. It is never sold and never shared.

What we collect, and why

What you give us when you apply: your identity verification, your reference, and your application answers, kept because vetting is the product. What the platform needs to run: your RSVPs, payments, and the content you choose to post, visible only as widely as you set it.

If you came to our launch night as a guest without applying for membership: 90 days after the event we delete your guest review, including the name and date of birth from your identity check, and have Stripe, our identity provider, delete your ID images and the details it read from them. We keep your account, the agreements you signed, and your payment records, because they are the record of who was there and what they agreed to. If you apply for membership instead, your review becomes your application and is kept like any other.

If you send a question to a Carnal Knowledge talk through carnalife.org/ask: we store the question and the time it arrived, and nothing about you, not your name, email, account or IP address. We delete it 30 days after it arrives.

If you report a problem or send feedback: what you write, the page you were on, and, only if you choose to include them, a screenshot and the technical details the form shows you. An email address is optional. We write to it only after you confirm it is yours, and only to answer your report. Ninety days after your report is resolved, we delete the screenshot and the email address, unless the law requires us to keep them.

Reply to any email from us. The founder reads every one, and a privacy question gets a direct answer, not a form letter.
